Forth Bridge Heritage Centre @ North Queensferry Railway Station

The station building at North Queensferry is a listed Grade B building. It is a fine example of Victorian design built in 1890 immediately after the opening of the Forth Bridge – now Scotland’s 6th UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The interior 4  main rooms originally consisted of the ladies’ waiting room with cast iron fireplace; a general waiting room; the station master’s office with ticket counter, storage shelves and cast iron fireplace leading through to the ticket office. All rooms were fitted out with tongue and groove wood panelling.

The building itself has now been completely refurbished and the ladies’ waiting room has been transformed into a permanent ‘Gallery’ showing a programme of local exhibitions as well as displaying objects relating to the Forth Bridge and railways. The general waiting room, now known as the ‘Meeting Room’ with a magnificent Victorian chandelier is able to host larger exhibitions and events where modern audio and video facilities are required.  The centre is easily accessible by a frequent train service on the Fife Circle Line. There is also a dedicated station car park.

The building, which has excellent modern toilets, is managed by North Queensferry Heritage Trust volunteers under the new name of Forth Bridge Heritage Centre.  The above image shows that Station when it was open during Fife Open Doors Day.

The exhibition and event programme for 2022 will shortly be announced on our website, Facebook and Instagram channels. A visit to this unique building is strongly recommended.
