Posted on November 16th, 2022
Ian Jack spent a large part of his childhood in North Queensferry. He became a highly respected journalist and editor of Granta and The Independent on Sunday who combined forensic investigative skills with an elegiac writing style.
His essays included memories of his early life in North Queensferry and Dunfermline, and latterly the on-going tale of two other ferries!
He was born on February 7, 1945, and died after a short illness on October 28, 2022, aged 77.
Here is his obituary with links to three of his essays.
