Carlingnose Naval Air Station 1912 to 1914
The beach at Port Laing was the site of the first Naval Air Station in Scotland and the genesis of the Royal Navy Air Service. Pilots who started their careers at Port Laing took part in some of the most significant events of WWI and beyond. In a few short years the Royal Naval Air Service grew from floatplanes to aircraft carriers.
