Carlingnose Battery – Control of the Guns

Responsibility for firing the guns rested with F.C. (Fire Command) for the Inner Defences – batteries at Carlingnose, Coastguard, Inchgarvie and Dalmeny, each with a B.C. (Battery Command) team.

There was a second Fire Command team based on Inchkeith, with responsibility for the Outer Defences – batteries on Inchkeith (B, F and L group) and Kinghorn.

All of the batteries and Fire Control stations were interlinked by telephone and connected to Leith Fort, The Fortress Commander at 30 Rutland Square, Edinburgh, and Scottish Command Headquarters at 22 North Bridge, Edinburgh
