Fate of the Scots Colours

After each of the battles the colours of the defeated regiments were seized as trophies. These were taken to London and displayed at Cromwell’s triumphant procession into the city.

TheHouse of Commons Journal, 10th September 1650 records that the colours were hung in Westminster Hall.

They remained there until Thursday May 10th 1660 when they were taken down and presumably put into storage.

Their ultimate fate is unknown but they were most probably lost in the fire which destroyed Westminster in 1834.
