By July 1921, a mere two months after the new lease was signed, the quarry had swallowed the land of the fourteenth hole, and the fifteenth tee.

In April 1922, the Admiralty issued this memorandum, stating that they had “resumed” part of the land leased by the Club at July 1921, depriving them of the 14th hole.

In compensation the club would receive payment of £28 11s and 8d, and a reduction in annual rent of £4 5s 3d.

The club decided to engage Doctor Alister Mackenzie of Leeds, a well-known golf course designer.

He planned a revised layout of the course in November 1921.
