1940 – the end
This report from the Dundee Courier and Advertiser Friday February 9th 1940 suggests the end is near.
FERRYHILLS GOLF
COURSE APPEAL
SPECIAL MEETING TOMORROW
Plea for support of an effort to avert the closing of Ferryhills golf course was made at Inverkeithing Town Council last night.
Mr J. S. Campbell, town clerk, read a letter from the secretary of the club. The letter stated that owing to the falling-off in the membership, the club as presently constituted could not continue to function satisfactorily.
It was felt that the closing of the course would be a serious loss to the community, and that an endeavour should be made to establish some basis on which the course would still be available.
A meeting of those interested would be held in the club-house tomorrow and it was hoped the Council would be represented.
Council agreed that Bailie Clark represent them at the meeting.
Monday’s paper carried the verdict of the Saturday meeting.

INVERKEITHING CLUB TO BE DISSOLVED
Ferryhills Golf Club, Inverkeithing, is to be dissolved
A meeting was called on Saturday in view of the falling-off in membership and the possibility that the course might have to be closed.
It was decided to dissolve the club as at present constituted, and to form a new club if possible.
And that is the last we hear of “gimmes” on Ferryhills. The land is left to the gimmers.
