1935 – South Queensferry Club at Ferryhills
The press carried two reports of matches between South Queensferry Golf Club and Dundas Golf Club played at Ferryhills in 1935. This is the first mention for a South Queensferry Golf Club, which did not have its own course, so played on the Ferryhills course. The current Dundas club was founded in 1957.
There are further press reports of matches at Ferryhills, and the prowess of the Ferryhills Club players there and elsewhere until the outbreak of WWII in 1939.
In 1938, there was the rumour that a German Spy was using the Ferryhills course to record the movements of ships in the Forth.
