A mere eighteenth months after the extended course was completed, a second encroachment by the quarry workings threatened the 15th (Magazine) hole.

In July 1925, the Admiralty issued this memorandum awarding the club £2 12s. 7d reduction in their annual rent.

Once again, the Club looked for new land away from the quarry workings. In December 1923, they approached Lord Elgin about the strip of land between the Railway and the course, as well as the parcel previously discussed towards Port Laing. At the same time they surrendered the lease from Lord Elgin on the field at Jamestown, as it had not been used.)

The also negotiated the lease at a second parcel of land adjacent to Port Laing, from Messrs Hutton.

This diagram shows the probable locations of the parcels of land leased in 1924 from Lord Elgin (blue) and Mr Hutton (pink) towards Port Laing, the railway strip leased from Lord Elgin (teal) and the unused field at Jamestown (yellow).

In January 1924 Alister Mackenzie was consulted again.
