1911 – clubhouse cost protests

The final cost of adding the 1911 extension to the clubhouse was £600, against an estimate “not to exceed £300 or £400.”

The committee proposed a levy per member of £2 1s. 9d.per member to cover the additional cost. This met with protests from some members.

After two heated meetings the issue was eventually resolved. Members were allowed to spread the levy over two years.

They would soon have more to worry about as Europe edged closer to the outbreak of war.
